Architect Jon Martin has proposed an extensive project to revive the notion of self reflection, allowing visitors to tour an abandoned train station much like an archaeological dig. The tour is a mixture of history, architecture, and reflection.
Hidden away deep beneath the bustling city of Antwerp is a shadowy, quiet, and forgotten world. Unused for over thirty years, a vast web of interconnected and abandoned metro stations has ceased to exist in its capacity as a means for public transportation, transforming instead into a desolate extension of Antwerp's underground infrastructure of sewage canals and access tunnels that's as haunting as it is beautiful.
Cork It!
Why you would ever want to store an endless supply of corks in a glass bottle is beyond me, but what if you actually needed a reserve for some odd reason.
Retrieving a cork from a glass bottle seems impossible right? Well, it's not. Using a plastic bag combined with some suction, this demonstrator shows us how easy it is.

Israel's Kings and Biblical Archaeology
Unveiling the Kings of Israel by David Down is a brilliant literary journey through the world of Biblical archaeology. As a spiritual person myself, I tend to question the many creation stories of the world, yet this book opens my eyes to the history of the world using the Bible and archaeology as a guide. The book is already getting rave reviews.
Views of monotheism or godly manifestations are never thrown in your face, rather, they are presented to the reader so that they may ponder their significance in the historical record.

Watch Old Movies on Your Wall with HD Screen Paint
Do you remember those old projectors? We would set them up in our living room and show old movies using a sheet hung on the wall. Well, those days are gone, but many of us love the nostalgic feeling of watching home movies like we did when we were kids.
Instead of using grandma’s handy flowered sheet, kept for memories sake in the linen’s closets, many people are now using home theater screen paint to project their HD video and home movies. Rather than having to purchase an expensive and bulky projector screen, parents are painting the screen on their children's walls. So, when their kids have a movie night/sleepover with their friends, they can experience the cinema while sitting in their PJs.

What is Polarity Reversal?
Every 200,000 years, the earth goes through a shift of polarity. The magnetic shield around the earth is weakening when the reversal is taking place, leaving us open to the harsh solar winds and other strong atmospheric pressure and particles from space.

Evolution has brought us to a point in time when this is long overdue, yet the shield around the earth is weakening, giving us a sign that a polarity reversal is not far from the future. Doomsayer's are known to over exaggerate these happenings however scientists proclaim that reversals are “as common as ice ages”.

So what does this mean for us? How will the sea life be affected by this change of direction? All good questions, yet until the reversal takes place, no one really knows who will flourish and what will be affected.
Will our shield disappear like the Red Planet causing the extinction of all mankind?
What We Do Know

Fact: Many species of animal can tap into the magnetic field, using it for migration, mating, or some other directional tasks. In 1957, Hans Fromme, a researcher at the FZI in Germany, noticed that several birds he was keeping in cages were becoming disoriented. It was at a time when migration was taking place, so it was normal behavior to Fromme. However, it was unusual that the birds could not see the outdoors or experience the weather, so how was it that the birds knew it was time to change direction?
Fromme believed it was something from within, a hidden ability to detect earth’s magnetic changes, and so he undertook a project to test other species such as rodents, trout, salamanders, lobsters, and even some types of bacteria.

Fact: Leatherback turtles have been around for over 110 million years, since the Cretaceous. Leatherbacks are known for using the magnetic poles to drive their direction towards their mating grounds and they are known to switch breeding locations, possibly because of the polarity reversal. So what will happen to the Leatherback’s when the reversal takes place?

Fact: Aurora Borealis, polar lights visible in the ionosphere, are quite spectacular, but when you get down to the components that make up the lights, you may be able to look deeper into what they really represent. This phenomenon is made up of a “collision of charged particles from Earth’s magnetosphere. What does this mean?
This means that the harsh solar weather is entering the Earth’s atmosphere, providing us with more damaging radiation and chemicals. Now, if the reversal takes place, you be able to see the Aurora Borealis all over the world, meaning the minor amounts of charged particles that were entering the atmosphere before are more than 80% concentrated.

What’s in Store
Many scientists believe that the Earth will regain its electromagnetic shield at full strength. Although the increased weakening of the shield is a definite indication of a reversal, no one can really say how long it will take. Paleomagnetists hope that by the time that happens, earth will be prepared, but for the time being, we can only wait.
What Causes Migraine Headaches?
Many people are affected by migraines every day. The symptoms are sometimes so severe that it leads to an inability to function in daily life. The pain can become excruciating, yet there is relief for the underlying symptoms.
What is a migraine?
A migraine causes throbbing head pain usually on one side of the head although the pain may be on both sides. These headaches are due to vasodilation or enlargement of the brain’s blood vessels. This enlargement activates the surrounding nerves which creates pain. The sympathetic nervous system is also activated. The headache can last for hours or even days at a time. An aura may precede and contain sensory symptoms such as blind spots, tingling sensations or seeing flashes of bright lights. Some people may experience premonitions up to a day before. Symptoms of premonitions can be increased energy, extreme thirst, changes in mood, tiredness and craving food. In addition to the throbbing pain, other symptoms include fatigue, confusion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cold hands or feet and sensitivity to light, sounds or odors.
What causes migraine headaches?
The causes of migraine headaches can be attributed to a drop in the brain chemical, serotonin, can cause migraine headaches. As serotonin levels drop, the trigeminal nerve system may be activated. Neuropeptides may be released which cause the extreme pain. Genetics may also be a causal factor.
What are the treatments?
There is a vast array of treatment options available for sufferers. The two main goals of the medication are pain relief and prevention. Over-the-counter pain relief medications may help such as ibuprofen and naproxen. Prescription medications such as ergotamine can help ease the pain. The doctor may put the patient on a program with medications such as propanolol and divalproex as a preventative measure.
How to deal with the pain of migraines
Some of the most effective ways to treat pain caused by migraine headaches is to turn off the lights, go to a quiet room, or stay away from the smells and sounds that can aggravate your symptoms. Sleep can also provide relief. Stress reduction is an important part of pain management. Other ways to manage pain include ice, scalp massage, relaxation and biofeedback. Getting regular exercise is also beneficial.
What does a migraine headache feel like?
The pain is the defining factor of many sufferers. The pain can be so extreme that it interferes with everyday activities. Although the pain is the main obstacle, there can be a wide variety of symptoms due to the aura and premonition. The sensitivity to light, sound and odors can be difficult to manage as well.
Are there different kinds of migraine headaches?
The two main types are classic and common migraines. The classic type begins with an aura and the pain may occur on one or both sides. The common form usually has no aura and occurs on one side. People who have the common type may struggle more with everyday activities. There are also two variant forms. Vertebrobasilar migraines have fainting, dizziness and double vision as symptoms. Hemiplegic migraines look like a stroke as there is paralysis or weakness on one side of the body.
Robert Wiener’s Glass Blown Murrine Art
Robert Wiener, a talented artist, embodies the Murrine blown glass design movement. Weiner uses layered spectrums of color to create basket weave like art forms that almost mimic lattice pie.

The organics of glass blowing combine melted glass and free flowing forms, which result in one of kind pieces, representative of nature and pure imagination. Murrine glass is characterized by colored patterns made in a glass cane exposed when cut in cross-sections. Several colors of glass are layered on top of one another, and from the core, heat is applied and the glass is stretched into a rod. When cool, the rod is sliced into cross-sections of desired thickness with each slice possessing the same pattern.

Robert Wiener is transforming an ancient process that first appeared more than 4000 years ago. Not only has Wiener polished his craft by studying with some of the most exceptional glass artists in the world, but he uses his own perception and creativity and perfected the use of technique and structure, to produce a piece of art filled with spectrums of vibrant color.

Robert Weiner’s colorbar series called “Summer Salsa” consists of over 700 pieces of glass with over 60 combinations of colors. Plates that are interwoven with layered rainbows of color, along with a sloping form, combine to create simplistic and innovative pieces of perfection.

"As I continue to develop an appreciation for American Craft, I find myself drawn to glass for several reasons. Whether it be hot (blown), warm (fused), or cold-worked glass, I am fascinated with what seems to be an infinite diversity of color, texture, and form. The fact that fused glass predates glass blowing and, up until the last hundred years or so was a lost art, gives fusing a special mystique."
Bombing down the salt mine in Poland
Greg Mirzoyan - Bombing down the salt mine in Poland. from Rollerblade on Vimeo.
Wieliczka is one of the oldest documented salt mines in Europe, often called the "Underground Salt Cathedral of Poland". Rock salt was mined at Wieliczka from the Middle Ages up until the 20th century. The mine sprawls over nine floors and reaches heights of 1,072 feet below the surface. It includes 2040 chambers and more than 186 miles of galleries, 26 surface shafts, and 180 connecting caverns.
Now one rollerblader, Greg Mirzoyan, has done what many of us are terrified to do without helmets. Bomb down the salt mine. Check it out!
Villa Vacations: The Best Travel Accommodations For Florida
As a Florida resident, there are obvious perks to living here. The warm sunny weather almost year around. The unrivaled white sand beaches and hundreds of options for weekend adventures. Yet, sometimes you want the luxury of staying in the many Florida villas available to travelers and residents. So how easy is it to book the perfect holiday here in Florida? It’s much more simple and economic than you think.
A few weeks ago I was visiting with my sister and her family. There were close to 20 of them, so they had chosen some Orlando villas to stay in, as they wanted the comfort of a real home and they also wanted to be situated close to the theme parks. Their villas were located in a charming spot at Lake Berkley in Kissimmee. The two story house my sister and her family were in overlooked a 14 acre lake, had a swimming pool and hot tub, full kitchen, a game room with a pool table and large screen television. The villa cost only $720.00 a week, and to be quite honest, I was shocked. I had always thought, since I lived in the area for close to two years, that these vacation villas cost a fortune. I was wrong. Most of the hotels in the area, especially located on the grounds of the theme parks, cost nearly $250.00 a night, and that was for a standard room.
Now you may be thinking, why even stay in a villa at all if you live in Florida? Well, not all of us, including myself, live near the attractions or the beaches. Staying at a villa not only affords you the comforts of home, but it also doesn’t empty your pockets. After a week of admiring my sister’s choice for a vacation villa, I started to check into one for myself, fiance, and several friends.
We are planning a trip next Spring to Marco Island and we haven’t decided on accommodations quite yet. It will be my very first time on the Island so I wanted to experience as much of the culture and surroundings as possible. Of course, there will be 12 of us, so finding a villa to suite a large party can be quite a challenge. I found a mansion villa, yes that’s right, a mansion, on Marco Island, during a week in March that is going to fit perfectly into our schedule. It sleeps 16 people, has 3 floors, pillow top mattresses, hi-speed wireless Internet (who can live without that), and it’s revered as one of the best villas on Marco Island.
Next time you're planning a trip to the Sunshine State, make sure you look into villas before hotels. There are much more economical and comfortable and the entire experience is so much more memorable.
