99 Rooms of Creepy Sounds and Abstract Animation and Art

Although the 99rooms experience, brought to you by rostlaub, came out in 2004, I was surprised to hear that many of mt artsy friends had never heard of it.

99Rooms is an unique internet art project that mixes wall painting, photography, animation and sound. Shortly after its launch in June 2004, more than 5 million individuals throughout the world have already visited this interdisciplinary composite work of art. 99Rooms stemmed from the mystical, often apocalyptically charming pictures created by Berlin artist Kim K√∂ster within the countless vacated premises of East Berlin‘s industrial sector.

From my perspective, and I'm not sure if this is the goal of the artists, the rooms are positively creepy.  There's even one particular room, and I swear I'm not making this up, that features this strange little man in  the corner of a blood colored room. Reminded me of the SAW movies. Eek!

You'll experience a painted man with a creepy cough, and an even creepier voice once you move your cursor. How about a cockroach the size of you head?

The trick to 99rooms seems to be, finding a way to unlock the animation, which will then allow you to move to the next room. So yes, in a essence, it's like solving nearly a hundred puzzles.
