The 2 Year Run of the Barefoot Bandit Ends

7/11/2010 10:35:00 AM ·

Teenager Colton Harris-Moore, otherwise known as the "Barefoot Bandit", was finally arrested in northern Eleuthera after a two year run stealing boats, cars, and even airplanes. How does one steal an airplane? Geez!

Officers have taken Colton Harris Moore to Nassau, the country's capital, where he faces possible extradition to the United States. Moore is a skilled outdoorsman and grew up on Camano Island in Puget Sound, making his capture a bit tricky as he blended into the landscape.

Like a scene out of "Catch Me if you Can",
Harris-Moore, who has been running from American law enforcement since escaping from a Washington state halfway house in 2008, gained fame and thousands of fans who admired his ability to evade arrest. He is suspected of stealing cars, boats and at least five planes — including the aircraft he allegedly lifted in Indiana and flew more than 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) to the islands off Florida's coast, despite a lack of formal flight training.
