How Does Art Inspire You?

Several years ago I set up a ecommerce hosting account to sell a few hand made products I was making in my spare time. I was taking trips to hobby shops and purchasing dark brown bamboo poles to make certain crafts out of. I'm sure many of you have seen bamboo wind-chimes in stores, however I was making candles.

The difference was, I would take several days to carve certain proverbs, artwork, and other designs into the bamboo with carving and wood-burning tools. I also started to dabble with napkin rings, working tirelessly on designs and carvings and I was so busy, I couldn't keep up with the demand.

I had one individual that had purchased 50 napkin rings from me for a small outdoor wedding, which she said went off without a hitch. I was so pleased that my artwork was on display for all to see.

The point of this story, and yes I have one I think, I really miss those long days in my workshop at the house I left behind. I would play Mozart and sip my Gevalia coffee, all while I was creating these one of kind trinkets. I guess I just miss it, and I really miss the time I had to actually be creative. Now it's all about books, studying, and getting up early.

Amazing how things change.
