Over the years, I've seen many horror movies and thrillers about urban legends that tell tales of couples staying in a lush hotel, or even a country cabin with their children, and they start noticing a rancid smell in the room and they just can't find where it's coming from. They contact the front desk and request a new room, but there aren't any available so they have to endure the horrible smell all night long.
In the morning they proceed to the front desk to once again request a new room, which they are given. They pass their old room on their way to the new one and they find a police officer rummaging through the room, along with the maid who has found a decomposing body in the bed frame.
"The Body in the Bed" urban legend became quite popular in the 90's, however instances of bodies being found in beds were reported in the news from 1987-1989 and then once again in 1994 and 1996. The cases found, especially in Florida and New Jersey, matched the old urban legend version perfectly.
So the moral of the story is, look twice under the bed before you lay on it.
