President Obama and the Nobel Peace Prize

Monday, October 19, 2009 ·

Let me first say that I'm hardly the authority on political news, however this subject struck me in a different way and I was left feeling confused.

I watching Bill Maher the other night, rather I was listening in while my fiance was watching it, the man said something Obama and the Nobel Peace Prize that made so much sense and I wondered why everyone else hadn't thought it.

The Nobel Prize committee came to the brilliant decision of giving President Obama the award primarily in the hopes that he will pull the troops out of the war completely. This includes all areas that the military is stationed including Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, you get the picture.

This is really just a push, or rather a very strong shove. If President Obama doesn't pull the troops, he will look like a hypocrite. It really was a genius idea if you look at it along these lines.

I personally would like to see Obama live up to his promise of change, because as I of now, I haven't seen any completed tasks that merit him the title of a intelligent president. To be completely honest, I really don't think that Harvard education is making him look any more prepared to run this country, especially considering President Bush went there as well, skating by with C's while partying his way through. Imagine if he took it seriously while he was there.

What's you're opinion on this and what would you like to see happen? Do you think Obama deserved the Peace prize for his efforts?

When I heard the news about this, it did struck me as well..It sort of takes away the meaning of the Nobel Peace Award for me..

It's like the Triond's hot content and hot users deal :-(

Lauren,
This is my first and maybe my last attempt at a comment on political stuff as I am hardly an expert or even much of an novice but Obama never asked to be nominating. If it turns out that he is not a good recipient for the award than it should be egg on the committee's faces not his. An honor like that thrust upon any president in this day in age is unfair anyway.
