Venice is Sinking Into the Sea

Venice, Italy, as described by Louie Jerome, is a beautiful city which is rapidly disappearing into the salty waters of the Adriatic lagoon it stands on, and structural engineers can do nothing about it.
Venice, Northern Italy, is a city that is worth seeing before it is too late. The whole place is slowly sinking into the sea and in recent years the rate of that sinking has started to speed up. The City is built on a hundred and eighteen small islands in a lagoon off the coast of Italy. It’s a salt water lagoon and the islands are linked by bridges. The whole thing is indeed an amazing sight.

It truly is a very, very special city and I understand there are quite extraordinary engineering efforts underway to try to save it. But if the seas continue to rise, it will become a new Atlantis! Visit while you can!
