Many people believe that ghosts are trapped within a portal to the other realm and remain unsettled until they pass over. Some of the phenomenon associated with haunted apparitions includes eerie visions and unidentified sounds, feelings of trepidation, and the sudden unfathomable death of all the occupants.

The Waverley Hills Sanatorium opened in 1910 to accommodate tuberculosis patients. “It has been popularized on television as being one of the "most haunted" hospitals in the eastern United States, and was seen on ABC/FOX Family Channel's Scariest Places On Earth as well as VH1's Celebrity Paranormal Project.”.

Over 63,000 people died at the sanatorium, some of those in the illustrious Room 502. "Room 502 is the subject of a local myth about a suicide which is said to have occurred in the room; a nurse who is said to have been pushed or jumped out the window." ^[18]

The Bell Witch claimed to be the spirit of Kate Batts, a nasty old neighbor of John Bell who believed she was cheated by him in a land purchase. On her deathbed, she swore that she would haunt John Bell and his descendants.

Dragshom Castle in Denmark

Dragsholm was constructed in the 12th century and it provided a residence for noble families. Since then, the castle has been converted into a hotel. The castle is rumored to have many odious haunts especially ones that reside in the basement where the old prison cells were located.

Brissac Castle in France

Standing seven stories high and built in the 15 century, this mysterious castle is filled with legends of murder and ghostly haunts. One of the owners, Jacques de Breze, sold the castle rather unexpectedly as a result of the assassination of his wife charlotte and her lover. The ghost of Charlotte still haunts the castle.

Peonari was first constructed in the 13th century by Romanian rulers. Over the years the castle had many owners but, it ultimately was abandoned in the first half of the 16th century. “Due to its size and location, the castle was very hard to seize, even by natural forces. “.

Constructed in the 15th century, Comlongon is comprised of many “interconnecting chambers to an extent not seen in any contemporary Scottish castle.” The narrow kitchen connects to a guardroom which in composed of a cell and a trapdoor that leads to a foreboding darkened dungeon.

There are legends about the villa Agostini in Corliano that still claim the existence of the ghost of Teresa della Seta Bocca Gaetani , “a beautiful woman descending from an old family in Pisa.” The noblewoman is still believed to be lurking about, moving tapestries and knick-knacks and knocking on guest’s doors and windows.
