A Standing Ovation in English Class

You know your life has meant something or you have affected people in some sort of small way to receive a standing ovation in English class.

The discussion went something like this:

My professor asked if anyone would make the first introductions and of course, no one volunteered, except for the overly annoying child like student dressed in baggy pants, messy hair, and an overuse of the term "word ". Very eloquent~!

Some more students proceeded to tell their stories and dive into their reasoning as to why they were there. When it came to me, and I think all of you know I am not at all ashamed a bit of which path I have traveled, I said " I love the Giants and the Colts, of course since I love the Mannings. I owned 2 restaurants and recently sold them in order to go back and obtain my Doctorate in Archeology." After I did this, I received a standing ovation, and you can't even imagine how amazing that feels when it comes directly from your peers.

In my eyes, and I say this all the time, "live is to short to live the same day twice." When I set out to accomplish something and it actually happens, nothing else can really top it.

I think the fact that I'm older and wiser now helps me adjust to a new course of study. It's really quite amazing and terrifying at the same time.
